This project was the first step to Barclaycard's strategy of having a presence in the live music industry.

In mid 2009 while working at Live Nation, a new project started with Barclaycard & London based agency Dare to deliver a ticket solution for Barclaycard’s sub brand Unwind. This project was the first step to Barclaycard’s strategy of having a presence in the live music industry.

The brief was simple – Offer an easy experience for Barclaycard customers to purchase concert tickets before they go on sale.

The ability to purchase tickets before anyone else has been an essential part of a Londoners social life for few years now and the connection of concert tickets and their customer base was important part of Barclaycard’s presence in music and making it easier to get the hot music tickets was the focus for the Unwind sub-brand. If you were a Barclaycard customer you had a chance of getting a ticket before anyone else.

The online service delivered this connection. The design and UI was focused around a coverflow concept, which at the time was a crowd pleaser, like today’s must have App. Being able to flick though the shows available like that of an iTunes library was how Barclaycard wanted to connect with their music fans.

http://www.barclaycardunwind.com/

Since then the event has grown in leaps and bounds. In 2010 it is expected to have over 100,000 people attending the 3 day metal festival.

Community lead and passionate, all involved are dedicated to the cause of keeping the festival rocking.

The website has gone though many different styles over the years and its a not a site that stays the same for long. It grows and shrinks though the season. If you see it in June the site is filled with everything leading up to the festival, if you see it in December it will be a quite spot to see what madness took place that summer.

To view the different designs click on the year.

The event has always had a simple statement with the Hard Rock brand and built for the wide demographic that visit, e.g. Classic rock dads taking their kids to show them what they listened to when they were young. However the event is more than nostalgia, you get the pros of Rock music like Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, New Order and Stevie Wonder and when you see artists of this caliber you respect why they are, and will continue to be so well respected by generations to come.

For the first few years I was responsible for the design and worked closely with developers to help with the build. In recent years I have been responsible for overseeing the festival on-line strategy, design and user interface for each feature and update.

The Wireless Festival is a 4 day event in Hyde Park London, that started in 2005. Marketed at the 18-35’s in London wanting to enjoy their summer in the city, go to a festival but not have to pitch a tent. You turn up in the afternoon, see some world class acts and when the sun goes down you go home, recuperate and do it all over again the next day

In late 2008, O2 took a giant leap into the the live music business, becoming the name sponsor of the Academy venues. With the naming rights already firmly established in the marketplace such as The O2 & Wireless Festival, their next strategic step was taking the sponsorship naming rights of 15 Academy venues.

After launching a £6m ad campaign highlighting the advantages of the service for gigs, the online presence was launched to showcase the gigs & shows. The site was the main channel to connect their customers with their music presence and of course to sell tickets. Working with a team, I was responsible for the roll out of the creative strategy, design and user interface for 15 new site builds, brand & experience was all with their own bespoke features and differences.

For the scale of this project, an 8 week turn around was one of the quickest and complex project I have worked on. The complete O2 re brand of all Academy venues seemed to happen over night. Not only were all the venues given the VIP treatment but the online presence went from zero to hero in a blink of an eye, making the old tired sponsorship of Carling a distant memory in the punters mind.
